    • Use of the word fjord (including the eastern Scandinavian form fjärd) is more general in the Scandinavian languages than in English. In Scandinavia, fjord is used for a narrow inlet of the sea in Norway, Denmark and western Sweden, but this is not its only application.

Pytanie #1:

How long from Oslo to Bergen?

Hi, we are flying in to Oslo and then thinking of travelling to Bergen to see the fjords. My question is how long does it take from Oslo to Bergen by train/bus?

Can we return the same day or do we have to stay there in Bergen overnight?

Pytanie #2:

Anyone up for some critique time?

No idea what my leg is doing in the last frame, you'll have to ask it - I'll set you up an interview later this week.
About the fjord not mine, yes she is fat, she is on a diet, on a dry lot, and has shown improvement in her weight since I started, but alas, I am back in school and not riding her currently.
Funny story, didn't have stirrups, also didn't have a saddle - its called bareback.

Pytanie #3:

Can you please translate these words into Welsh?

It's a bit of a random list. The reason I'm asking on here is because I've tried putting a few of the more specific ones into a dictionary and it couldn't come up with a translation, so I figured here was the best place to ask as humans will know if there's a word which means the same thing or not! Anyway, the words:

Oxbow, glacial, fjord, lava, underground, artificial, rift, ephemeral, intermittent, meromictic
Ducks, sheep, wheat, geese, hay, barn, orchard, straw, dairy, fields
Willow, beech, oak, cherry, apple, spruce, redwood, ash, gum, fir
Barge, narrowboat, ferry, canoe, speedboat, kayak, freighter, submarine, gondola, punt

Pytanie #4:

Can you translate this from Spanish into English?

Hello, I'm trying to translate this song lyrics from Spanish into English. It's originally a poem so if you can apply more poetic words to these lines, I will really appreciate it!! Thank you!

Creo Señor en Magallanes,
Creo en sus fiordos, sus canales,
Sus ovejas, su petróleo,
Creo en su gente valiente,
Campesinos, obreros del petróleo,
Marineros y estudiantes
Ganaderos, caminantes
Trabajadores de Chile,
Que entre los hielos y el viento
Hacen su patria y su vida.

This is what I tried:

I believe God in Magallanes
I believe in its fjords, its channels,
its sheep, its petroleum.
I believe in its brave people
Farmers, oil workers,
Sailors and students,
Sheperds and walkers.
Chilean workers who
serve the country
living among the ice fields and the wind.

Pytanie #5:

Which Fjord is closest to Oslo, Norway?

Hi, we will be flying down to Norway for a couple of days before we continue our trip in Europe. We plan to see the places of Natural Beauty. We thought of seeing the fjords of Norway.

If we were to go to Oslo, which Fjord would be closest to Oslo? Would it be better if we were to not go to Oslo, but some other city so that we can see a Fjord in a couple of days? Thanks for your help.

Norway fjords: Flåm to Gudvangen cruise?

I need information about the timetables of the fjord cruises from Flåm to Gudvangen. And do I have to book it in advance (and where?) or I can just do it when I get there (19-22 september). Can I choose beween 1 way or roundtrip? Is there more than 1 choice at this time?
Thank you!

Pytanie #8:

Do any Canadians want to go to Nunavut with me on holiday sometime?

I want to take random Canadians on a free trip to Nunavut where we would hike in the Baffin Islands, see Iqaluit, camp out in Cape Dorset, walk on Grise Fjord in Ellesmere Island, and I would take all these Canadians free....

all they have to do in lieu of this is find me a job in Canada, and then I will get my earnings potential to recover the cost of the trip....

would this be a happy idea for everybody?
I'm really happy with this second poster's answer

Pytanie #9:

Riding Critique Please [Western and Bareback]?

Tried this yesterday but didn't get many responses, one good one and two with indecipherable poor grammar.

So here is the video:

It was more in celebration (and mourning) of the last time I would ride either of the horses until the snow falls, and not entirely focused on my riding style, more so the beauty of the connection between the horse and rider and how I love Minnesota, but there are clips (which are long enough to critique on) in there.
There are two things to note.
1. First mare, is a TWH, yes, she is pacing. But she is primarily used as a trail horse and she only paces in the arena, and thus, we aren't going to train her out of it (I tried, but the training wasn't kept up when I was away...)
2. Second mare, fjord.. yes she is chunk, she is on a diet and on a dry lot. I was exercising her and she actually started slimming down (you can see a hint, a tiny hint, of her withers)
Other than that, go to town. Enjoy the video!

Pytanie #12:

What kind of clothes should I pack for an Alaskan cruise in September?

I've read different things from different people. Looking for someone to answer who has been to Alaska in late Aug/early Sep.

Itinerary includes: Juneau (and take a kayak tour of a glacier), Ketchikan (going ziplining), Victoria, B.C., Skagway, Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska Inside Passage, and Seattle.

Pytanie #13:

Herbs vs Expensive Mixes?

I was reading an article in 'Your Horse' mag today about using herbs to relax and treat horses. They included a lovely story about a lady who saved a horse who had lost her foal and used various herbs and plants to help the mare. I was reading the pages where they explained the different herbs and their uses, such as nettle leaves and barley grass powder, and i thought it was really interesting. So anyhow, I was thinking, What would you rather do, splash the cash on expensive mixes, or go out and pick special herbs for your horse? They were also saying how horses know what will heal them and what will harm them, if you give your horse the option of various helpful herbs, he/she will go for a pain relieving one if he has an injury, or a hoof building one if he/she has bad feet. Do you use herbs and does your horse respond well?

Fun Q: If you could own and breed any breed of horse in the world, what would it be? I'm so with Fjords :)

Pytanie #14:

Ground Poles and Bareback?

Okay, so the black on the saddle is starting to rub off, this on the saddle that I use when I ride her fjord. I am going to swear off the saddle for a while and move to bareback.
What position do I get into while going over poles bareback, trotting.

Pytanie #17:

how do you quit riding at a particular stable?

So I'm kind of a wimp and very much a pushover. I've been working at this one lesson barn for YEARS (like 6 maybe more). I know all the people and I love them dearly. However the owner scares me a little (shes really nice but knows just soooo much and I'm so shy its intimidating). Anayway, the barn has been deteriorating for a while now and I want out. I'm riding elsewhere and have been for two years I just kept going because I would miss my friends and I wanted the jumping lessons I got for free because I work them off. Now all the more advanced horses are gone (my choice is limited to three: a fjord who is a aggravating training ride, a quarter horse who is frequently lame because of an old tendon injury and a TB who is old and ALWAYS lame (well not always but she's lame enough that I don't want to ride her and think she needs to be retired).
But my question is, how do I tell my boss that I want to quit without making her mad or anything? My best friend over there just went to college and well... everyone else wants to leave too... i feel bad. I don't want to ruffle feathers, but I want OUT>
well I am already riding a lease horse at another place and doing stalls at ANOTHER place. I started riding at my job too. I don't think I have time at all. Plus its exhausting.
What (LIke exact workds) do you think I should say? I like the idea of being honest but, well I have difficulties actually talking to her (I usually leave notes but I don't think I can for this.... I'd feel badly)
I like the idea of calling-- It means I wouldn't have to see her face, but then again talking on the phone is horribly scary.... Which do you think is better? face to face or calling?
HAH. I like the "she knows its coming" part. sooooo true. shes panicking. offered me a privet lesson with her (she's a really good teacher) and a pair of really nice breeches for $20
I know I'm lucky-- its just that I got soooooo lucky elsewhere and am overwelmed. I'm exhausted already and its summer. I don't think I can do it when school starts. It's just so much stress and not enough time

Pytanie #18:

Going on a Trip to Europe in Early October?

I will be going on a trip with some buddies leaving october 6th, landing in London (non negotiable, using up AA miles)

To tell you a little about myself, I love a great city, but I also love small , waterfront towns. This is why Scandinavia REALLY appeals to me. Can anyone tell me about such cities as Malmo,Bergen,Goteborg,Oslo and Stockholm, Helsinki and Copenhagen? Maybe I'm missing a great city that you all could tell me about.

I also would love to spend a day seeing the beautiful Norway/Swede landscape, such as the Fjords, and other scenic places that I'm unaware of, could you all also tell me about this?

Finally, it is an open jaw ticket, and I could be spending anywhere from 8-14 days , and I could spend anywhere from 2 days (If I like what I hear from you guys about Scandinavia) or 4 days, if you feel like doing all this would be too jampacked. Also, is October a real down season? Is that bad?Or could it be good?

Thank you all a ton, 5 stars for the best answer of course!

Pytanie #19:

Can anybody advise me on a first time cruise holiday?

The ship is going from Hull to Norway and has capacity for 800 passengers. Having never been on one before:

Is there any disadvantages to having a cabin low down without a porthole (apart from the obvious no window) – is it noisier or a rougher ride as there seems to be a big difference in prices although the cabins are the same sizes

Any advice on what to expect ie clothes to take?

I would really appreciate advice from anybody who has actually been on a Fjord cruise thanks
It will be for the end of April - early may

Pytanie #22:

What level or rider do you think I am?

I have been riding for about 14 years now, though in the last 3 years has it become riding 2-3, even 4 days a week, at least once a day through the winter. I don't own a horse, I have been leasing the same mare now for about 2 years. I have had 8 years of training in english huntseat, though, more recently I have gone to western because it is more practical. While in school I do exercise riding because I have found its the only way I can ride while in school, the horses mostly have behavioral issues, or the owners have lost confidence with the horses. Which means these horses are more likely to be airborne then not, and I have found out (to my surprise) I am quite hard to unseat. Through exercise riding I have rode some of the top Friesians in the state (they could drive, but were horrible undersaddle) gaited horses of all sorts, rescue horses from abusive situations, riding young 2-3 year olds on their first rides and up and at the barn I work at while at school, I am in the go-to girl to try out the new horses. And, at my current stable while I am home for the summer, I am asked by other people to ride their horses based on my handling of my own leased horse, currently I am working with an overweight fjord.
While I fear my english isn't as nice as it used to be, I am still well versed in that and western. I have never jumped but understand the principles behind it, I w/t/c/g with no issues with or without a saddle. I still have issues with proper form, and some of the finer points, since with most horses I have to work with, the goal is to stay on, and worry about elegance later.

I only need the last two , please help !?

Okay before youre like whoa this chick is crazy , I only need the answers to OCT.1 and OCT. 3 . I got the rest myself but im completely stuck on these two . Theyre also the two that have the two "**" before the date .

Today, the first cards have arrived. After supper, your neighbors gather outside and start passing the cards around. You and Pat take a look at them. There are no pictures! One side of each is blank except for an address. The other side has a handwritten message, but no cities or countries are named. From what city and country did the Wiltons write each postcard? Hint: Use an atlas and encyclopedia to find the answers. A dictionary might help too.

The cards read as follows:

Sept 12: Hi, everybody! Guess where we are? That's right, we want you to guess. Here's a clue: We've spent two days in the largest city of this island country. Must dash-Big Ben says it's time for lunch!

Sept 14: What country are we in now? A really beautiful one. We sailed through a fjord and hiked on a glacier yesterday. Now we're in the capital, once named after King Christian IV.

Sept 18: Traveled south and arrived today in the town associated closely with Hans Christian Andersen. Weather here a bit rainy, but we're having too much fun to care!

Sept 22: Just flew to this place on the Main River; it's Hesse's largest city. We enjoyed touring the Romer, a town hall built in the 1400s!

Sept 23: Now have firsthand proof that the Jungfrau is the loveliest mountain in the Alps. Right now, we're in the capital of this country.

Sept 24: Through Brenner Pass to Europe's leading cultural center. Breathtaking city! Also home of Johann Strauss, Jr., and the waltz.

Sept 26: Gondolas are the way to go! Most of the people living here use motorboats, though. Right now, we're taking a break in the Piazza San Marco.

**Oct 1: We're starting the last leg of our trip. Good thing! We're on our last legs! We sailed between Corsica and Sardinia to this Mediterranean port in the second-largest country in Western Europe. We're about 75 miles south of the French border, but we're not in France!

**Oct 3: Spending our last day in western-most country of continental Europe. We fly home from its capital tonight. See you soon!

From what city and country did the Wiltons write each postcard? Hint: Use an atlas and encyclopedia to find the answers. A dictionary might help too

Pytanie #24:

What should be my game plan for these next few weeks?

In addition to my leased horse, I am also riding a very overweight fjord in favor to her owner. I adore this fjord, who isn't push button but will mostly do what you ask. I have primarily worked her in the arena, her owner requests that I try jumping her. Alas, I fear that she still weighs too much for that and am going to start with ground poles.
Also, her owner is going to be gone from Aug 7-20th. Which leaves her free for me to ride all of that time, if it doesn't conflict with my work schedule.

[[QUESTIONS]]
1.She has had no experience with ground poles, and I have had limited. I am curious how I can involve those into the weight loss program.

2. Also, the one time I did take her out on the trails, contrary to what people think about the mindset of a fat pony, she was all about going, and much to my attempts to slow her with my seat, I felt like I was yanking on her mouth. What is something that I can do to work with her, she slows and stops nicely in the arena but seems to be too stimulated on the trails.

And since videos are fun, heres one of two of us... yes things are wrong, and yes, I know what they are, and how to fix them - but enjoy a good song and a fat horse after your through replying
ETA:
I know trotting is good for this rotund girl, and I quite enjoy it - but when should I transition into a canter, is that as well a good weight loss speed?

Also, in terms of the game plan I mentioned, I would ideally like to know how long during her owners vacation I should exercise her and how often?
her feed is cut, and she is on a dry lot. Btw.

How is Oslo (people, crime, trash, etc)?

I've always wanted to study here. I have been looking up stuff about it online, and I have been getting mixed messages. Some say it is beautiful, clean, and safe, while others say there are prostitutes, trash everywhere, drug addicts, pickpockets, and random beatings, rapes, and heavy public drinking. What is oslo really like? I know for one that it is expensive, but wages are high there. Right now, I have mixed impressions of it. Half of me wants to say that it's what you make of it, and the complainers likely had other bridges to burn, while the other half says to stay away from it? Is it boring? Will I be in the poor house if I follow the reccommended student budget by the government (8500 nok per month)? If oslo is bad, where else in norway can I live? I really want to go for the fjords.

Critiques on the fjord and I?

Looking for critiques and comments on the fjord and I. Whatever works, its not like I'm intending to be show quality - just would like fixing thing so they look better.

I was having some trouble with the saddle, it was slipping and my foot got wedged in there. I'm also leaning too far forward (IMHO) in a couple shots, I was getting distracted by her mane.. who wouldn't?
The history? Shes not mine, however, I am riding her in the arena as much as I can before the summer ends for her owner in hopes of her shedding some pounds. It was the first introduction to ground poles...
Her owner would like me to try jumping at some point, but I fear she is too fat for that. What type of conditioning via trot can I work with her on?

Though I was initially trained in english, I have been riding western for connivence for the last year or so.. Ugh. So I am quite sure my "I ride english to look pretty" isnt so anymore, It appears my post has gone to the dogs.

Pytanie #30:

That Fjord is fat, what shall we do?

I have picked up another exercise riding gig, with a beautiful and wonderful fjord, who is already in a dry lot with reduced feed, so the intake part is taken care of, but with her weight I was curious what I should actually DO with her. I am riding her 2 days a week (atleast) in efforts for weight loss, her owner rides atleast 2x as well. Her owner takes her out on the trails, but I would like to ride her in the arena more (since I miss the trot, my silly TWH will have no such thing) her owner (who has less experience then I, which she admits) wants me to try barrel racing her, or jumping. I have experience in jumping, and we would only go a few inches up, but no experience with barrel racing. what precautions should I take? This mare is fat, fat fat ! Will post a video on another post later tonight. If it helps, she is pretty sweaty when doing walk/trot transitions, figure 8s and ground poles for an hour in 80* with fairly high humidity in a breezy indoor arena.

cost to change ownership of registered Fjord and any other horse?

for a fjord its with the NFHR but im happy to know on any breed

Pytanie #34:

mom doesnt want me to get a new horse.?

right now i have an Arab paint, 6 yo mare 15.2hh unregistered and very hot. I got her for 800 but i can sell her for 1000. my dream horse is for sale right now 6yo Fjord 13hh registered and 1-10 is a 2. this mare costs 3k lowered from 7.5k. my mom thinks thats too much for a horse and asked if i would rather spend 1k on my horse to get her broken. my horse is very spooky, have to use a stud chain, cant be taken out on trail, has had 1 baby too young (before i got her) and i have gone through 3 saddles now on her. i love my horse but she isnt for me. ive trained a couple horses but when i get on her im kind of freaked out. her ground manners suck and i cant really work on it because shes spooky and if shy spooks, she spooks into me.
I feel that i would do better on a smaller horse and i volunteer at a theraputic place for autistic children and i could lease this horse with them which would help out on cost. I can take this one on trail, eats half of what my horse eats, stronger feet, all around better horse. Its my dream horse and im the right size for it but my mom cant get past the stupid 3k!!!!!!! Shes not even paying for this horse, i am! she would rather me keep this crazy horse than to spend 3k on this new horse. I already have a few people that want my horse which will help with the cost but i have to pay to transport it here.
Please anyone, what can i do to get my mom to change her mind? she also said it has too big of a neck and that it doesnt look like a horse. (she knows nothing about horses) Ive told her everything ive said in here but she says its too much. HELP
its all my money. i also just turned 18 and still living with her. it just really stresses me out.
1. I do know how to train a horse.
2. I do work for the money that i have used on my horse.
3. I know this horse would be good for the program.
4. Where I live I can get $1000 for my horse.
5. I do work with my horse every day.
6. I am not looking for the easy way out. I am looking for a horse I can have fun with and the horse I have is a waist of money to me because I can't do much.
Don't just asume something and think you're absolutly right, because you're wrong.

I'm 21 (young I know) I have been dating the guy of my dreams (23yrs old) for 1yr and a couple of months. I would love to believe that I could have a future with him but I have doubts that I'll be his only girl.

Translation into Icelandic please :)?

:
Iceland is a large island north of Scotland. I think Iceland is a very beautiful country, it is also very special because of its volcanic geology. Its fjords and mountains are unique, and its typical scandinavian houses.
Iceland has many waterfalls, geisers and volcanic craters, the landscape is alive. The people are very friendly and welcoming, and they have their strong Viking traditions buried within their family histories.

I am going to Iceland this summer and want to do the justice of being able to speak some :)

Pytanie #42:

How quickly will ice sheets respond to AGW?

If ice sheets like the Greenland ice sheet were to melt quickly, sea levels would rise greatly. However, the IPCC concluded that higher temperatures would eventually melt the Greenland ice sheet - but only over centuries to millennia. Very little contribution from Greenland was factored into the 21st century sea-lvel rise projections of between 18 and 59 centimeters.

James Hansen is critical of the IPCC's projections.

The models on which the predictions of Greenland are based operate by estimating the difference between water loss from future melting and iced accumulation from future snowfall. However, there is much more to ice dynamics than just melting and snowfall. Vast quantities of ice are constantly flowing oat from Greenland's center in large glaciers, which surge through fjords and discharge icebergs into the sea. These glaciers aren't properly accounted for in molds.

As melting occurs on the surface, whole rivers plunge down through moulins onto the the bedrock beneath the ice sheet. This water then acts as a lubricant under the ice, speeding up the glaciers as thy proceed to the sea. This faster flow thins glaciers.

Furthermore, James Hansen says the positive albedo feedback could melt ice extremely rapidly.

So far, the IPCC's sea level rise projections haven't been correct. Sea levels are currently rising at a rate of 3.25 millimeters per year, much fasters than the IPCC predicted.

Pytanie #43:

a saddle to fit my horse?

I have a Norwegian fjord horse who i am having trouble fitting in an english saddle. he is a little over weight, but even when he is in good shape he just has a very round barrel like shape, he also has very small withers. I have a wide treed saddle that seems to fit him, but it slips even with the girth tightened. For my western saddle i use a breast collar which really seems to help it stay in place, but i was wondering if there was something like that for english riding? And also would it be acceptable to use in shows?

Pytanie #45:

So I had a strange viking poem urge, comments or critiques?

The Vikings Way-I have no idea, I have just had a fascination with Vikings, by the way, the first line was half adapted from the Leaves Eyes song Skraelings. I just thought it was a nice line to use.

Solitary houses that watch from beyond the fjord.
The jagged valley carved out by a glacial knife.
Atop the range a home for the lady and the lord,
an intimidating skræling with an enchantress wife.

Of the scattered villages of the area Vinland
lived a girl Freyja with a battle ready stance.
Restricted were women to battles along the strand,
whose touch was too delicate for the grip of the lance.

The lord sent the vicious onslaught into battle every day,
always a blur of the axe swipe and a scarlet pour.
Freyja was bloodthristy, the norse were theirs to slay,
to lament how she wasn't at the battle of the shore.

With a partner died in battle, Rutja wasn't so keen,
her daughter seeing the conflicts as a game of chance.
But with Freyja seeing every day the vicious battle scene,
Rutja was helpless to stop her daughters interested glance.

By the sparkle of a light shaft, Freyja was awoken,
knowing her mother was still asleep, away she crept.
Rutja awoke and saw the abscence, her fear unspoken,
as she slept, Freyja had ran, for years she wept.

With a haliberd in her hands Freyja bolted to the beach,
she had heard her mothers scream and it was on loop.
The girl didn't care how many rules she had to breach,
she was on the path to be a stalwart skræling troop.

Overlooking the fjord, Peder was on patrol,
not to expect to see a corpse, broken.
One poke to check if there was still any soul,
Rutya was stone cold dead, her silence spoken.

In view Freyja could see previous friends before they left,
slipping into the frey, no one noticed her differing sex.
The battle raged further by the moss encrusted cleft,
still a mass of heads seperated from owners necks.

Freyja's fight was valiant, flailing her sword in every sight
but soon she was pierced by a lethal poison dart.
Going through her armour suitalbe for a knight,
it quickly reached through to her feminine heart.

The viking funeral took place of the centre fire,
Freyja and Rutya propped up against each other.
The problem was quickly known and would transpire,
but now together once more, a daughter and her mother.

Well. . . that was a bit strange, but I had some inspiration and it came very smoothly to me this one!
Ahh good, I wasn't so sure how this would be received!

Pytanie #46:

Would the events outlined in this poem be sufficient to drive a man insane, comments and critique?

And Then They Were Gone 1895c

First to fly was doe-eyed Jen
petite in frame and not yet ten,
who died while cradled in his arms
as he recited from the psalms.

One month later toddler Ned
still prone at three to wet the bed,
frail from consumption didn't rise,
his spirit gone, evaporised.

While this occurred his loving wife
grew weaker fighting for her life.
Not one to let his feelings out,
he bled inside,refused to shout.

A buttoned lip, his faith not strong,
he questioned how he could go on.
For months they lived on meager food
and day and night his mind would brood.

In Autumn Lucy suck her thumb
took her last breath and did succumb
and in the churchyard laid to rest
next to the ones she loved the best.

The day he buried his dear spouse,
he locked himself inside the house
quite overcome by dreadful grief
he'd lost all hope in old beliefs.

Swallowed up in death's darkened vale
he couldn't eat, complexion pale
and thought that Satan had arrived
to mock him, laughing yellow eyed.

The ghosts were buried in his head
and how he longed that he was dead.
An empty, silent, morbid room
exhaling sorrow, drenched in doom.

He needed air, he had to talk.
By fjords calm he chose to walk.
His temple throbbed, his brain was hot
and then he snapped, he lost the plot.
lost the plot, may be an english expression for going a bit bonkers. No doubt Ian will be along soon to chastise me and to suggest something else.(lol)
Ian: I was going to add the details of the poem I posted yesterday about the painting - (i.e. the madness ) directly after these lines. This was a build up to it. I wasn't sure whether to add it or not?
In Autumn Lucy suck her thumb (nickname) - perhaps it should have had hyphens
Blue Feather - no offence taken. This is about a man driven insane by the death of his family. Nothing to do with writers, block. The ending was abrupt - I do have one but chose not to post it.

How is the weather in Norway (Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, Tromso) during July-August?

My family and I are planning a road trip this year in Norway and Sweden during that time. It will probably be at the end of July through to the first half of August. We might go all the way up to Tromso but our main destination will be the fjords. It would be great to know the weather estimates as our travel times are flexible!
Thank you so much for all your answers! It really is difficult for me to pick the best one, so I'm giving it to Starchild because she seemed most considerate of my traveling needs. Also, her answer was so good that someone ("Jimili J") chose to copy it!

I need pictures of scenery in Norway?

I need amazing pictures of Norway (E.g. Northern lights, snow/ice, polar bears, lakes, fjords etc...)

Pytanie #50:

What is your opinion on this form of horse ownership?

Ok, so my friend has four stallions.

I'm not even trolling you, guys. This is a family of kinda-whacky vegans who're self-sufficient on their own little farm. They have four Fjord horses (three stallions and a gelding) and a North Swedish horse (age 3, stallion). These are work horses and do the plowing and the hay-cutting and whatnot. My friend "owns" two of the fjords and does some pretty insane trick riding with them (she's a member of a trick riding troupe and goes to England with them in the summers).

I have no bloody idea why they've chosen to have four stallions and a gelding together, but for some reason they do, and it works fine except two of the horses have to be in a separate pasture and they have to be a little careful when out riding incase they meet any mares.

What do you think?!

My question number two for opinions is that the winter was really tough over here this year. These people haven't had an income for nine years and obviously don't have any money, so they were short of hay (they bought some). Two of these horses are showing some pretty substantial ribs. By pretty substantial what I mean is, I can see them. They're working on fattening them up again but obviously this has been allowed to happen. How do you feel about this?
Here are five pictures so you guys can see the ribbage:
The North Swedish (the brown one) is the one who looks worst in the pictures, but I personally think the separate fjord (IMG 0719) was worst when I was there.

I also forgot to aks if they wormed their horses but I kind of doubt it D:
I actually agree with your opinions, but you guys don't seem to realise that these are work horses on a farm and it's their livelihood you're talking about. They are talking of selling one to get more money but they can't just get rid of the horses that plow their fields. I was wondering how you felt about having four *stallions* =)
Take a chill pill!!!!
=) These are my FRIENDS! I'm not criticising them. And I'm not "minding anybody's business". I'm asking your opinion! I know how I feel about it. Just wondering how any other people felt about it. Jeez....

And Wahoo, I know I'm really uptight about thin horses =)

The principal mountainous regions where fjords have formed are in the higher middle latitudes and the high latitudes reaching to 80°N (Svalbard, Greenland), where, during the glacial period, many valley glaciers descended to the then-lower sea level.
